FAQs
Do I need a referral to see a Psychologist?
You do not need a referral to see a Psychologist. However, if you do want to receive Medicare rebates for your sessions, you do need a referral and a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP.
What should I expect at my first session?
You will be provided with a link in order to access your session via video. If you do not wish to proceed via video, then we can certainly offer phone consultations. In that case, your therapist will call you at your scheduled time. Your session may last about 50 minutes, and the first session may involve getting to know you and determining your expectations/goals for therapy. Prior to your first session, we will give you a quick call to understand your needs. We will also send you some paperwork to register your details and to provide you with the necessary forms and information. Please be prepared by filling out the necessary paperwork and taking a moment to understand the terms and conditions, and the limits to your privacy and confidentiality.
Connecting to your sessions via telehealth
You will need stable internet connection, a working computer with an up to date browser/or phone, a working microphone, and a working camera set up on your computer. Besides this, we recommend that you are in a safe and confidential space during the sessions.
What telehealth system do you use?
We utilise COVIU which has been endorsed by the Australian Psychological Society. It has end to end encryption and you do not need to download any programs or apps to be able to utilise COVIU. Simply click on the link that is sent to you to access your session.

What is a Clinical Psychologist?
Clinical Psychologists receive extensive training and experience to assess and treat mental health concerns. The problems that they can help with can range from mild to complex and their role is to work collaboratively with you, to understand your presenting problem/s and work with you to achieve wellbeing and your goal/s. Clinical Psychologist are required to be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, and would have completed four years of undergraduate training as well as two years post graduate training.
How long does therapy take and how many sessions do I need?
Every person is different in terms of their problem/s and their individual circumstances. Some may only need a few sessions, while others may need more long term support and therapy. The number of sessions that you require, will be determined during therapy and this may even change. However, most people will need at least 6 to 12 sessions as most research studies with cognitive behaviour therapy often report trials for this length of time.
